SOS Children's Villages

General Assembly 2016

SOS Children's Villages is the world's largest charity working with orphaned and abandoned children. The General Assembly is held every four years and is the most important decision-making event of this NGO. In 2008, 2012 and 2016 I acted as creative project manager of this 3-day event held in Innsbruck (Austria) with more than 350 delegates from over 130 countries attending.

In this role I was responsible for the look and feel of this event to make sure it was in line with the organisation's brand and supported the key messages of the general assembly.

Event Design

SOS Children's Villages (AT)

Tasks amongst others included:

// creative concept & key visual
// reports and documents in five languages
// work folders, awards, staff uniforms, give-aways
// name tags, roll-ups, posters, postcards
// presentations, videos, on-screen visuals
// signage and decoration of the venue
// visual support for press conferences and activities
// managing external suppliers
// co-ordinating a design team and volunteers
// scheduling, budgeting, project management
// get 350 people on 1 group picture within 20min... (challenge accepted and won!)

(All photos are from the 2016 event)

Collaborating across all departments and handling a big workload with limited resources available, the visual design received praise from the participants and played an important role in the overall success of this event.

And thank god it was sunny...
